We are aware of a recent news story reporting the use of cadmium at high levels in some children’s accessories. As parents of 5 children under the age of 9 and as a leader in product safety for the children’s accessories industry, we feel it is important to address the concerns generated by this news story.
We have long operated a comprehensive safety and testing program that has been in accordance with the most stringent global safety standards. These standards include the European Union’s EN71 Part 3 (Heavy Metals), which includes cadmium. While there is no current standard for cadmium content in children’s accessories in the USA, because of our independent testing for distribution to the European Union we are confident that our products do not contain any unsafe cadmium levels.
